Creative Ways for Companies to Participate in Giving Tuesday 2019

In response to the commercialization of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday — which is observed on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, was established in 2012. Although it started as a day for charitable giving with participants donating funds to nonprofits, now it has grown to be about giving back to the community in general.

This year, Giving Tuesday will be on December 3. Beyond individuals contributing funds to this movement, there are numerous creative ways to get involved. At Visit.org, we understand the impact that companies have on the community when they gather their resources and use their influence to make a difference. Here are some ideas you can encourage your office to participate in.

Volunteer to feed homebound individuals

Gather your team for a day of delivering meals to the elderly and immobile. In addition to fighting against hunger, your team will also be providing vital companionship to those in need.

Empower senior citizens with manicures and makeovers

Spend a couple hours providing friendship and uplifting manicures to elderly women. When you book this fun community service experience, you will be supporting an organization that cares for seniors.

Throw an in-office puppy party

Liven up the holiday season by inviting puppies to your office as a way to reward or motivate your team. You and your team will be enjoying bonding with each other and your new furry friends as you learn about the host nonprofit’s mission to rescue animals.

Visit an alternative recycling center

For an eco-conscious activity, book this experience at an alternative recycling center. Here, your team will learn about canners, recycling, composting, and how our consumption has impacted the environment. Together, you will discover a day in the life of a canner while lending a hand in the process of recycling.

As with all Visit.org activities, 100% of revenue from any booking will go to the host nonprofit — turning your company’s team-building experience into a monetary donation as well.
